Progress in the past ten days or so has been pretty good and most of the pages inside this site are linked and functioning, although now begins the hefty task of gathering all the required information from almost 200 pubs!

Be warned - many of the telephone numbers that are currently showing appear to be out of date, but hopefully we'll have rectified most of those annoying things by the end of this month. Meantime, we're getting there ...

Welcome to Ale & Hearty, though it's still very early days for you to see much here. However, we are working away, assembling all the information we need to bring you what we hope will be perhaps the most definitive guide to current Portsmouth area pubs.

In these pages we will have indexes of pubs by alphabetical order, by area and by specialities (i.e. pub restaurant, live music, pub quiz nights and so on) which we hope will make it easy for locals and visitors alike to identify just what they want on that particular night out.

Getting everything together will take some time, but we hope that you will stay with us as we build, and we welcome comments and suggestions, so please let us know what you think of our efforts as we progress, but please be aware that the early index links are probably only experimental, and will be replaced within a matter of days.
